Hi Pamela, thanks for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the Side Opening Inlet Valve White. This part is quite new to market, so I expect it will be different to your old one. Some of the older wall plates are unusual sizes, whereas all new ones (including this version) are made to a standard universal size.
Our service team should be able to help you with this if you would like to send in photo of your old wall plate for identification.
