Hi Dana, thanks for your review. The blue bags were a 2-ply paper design, the newer style bags are 3-ply synthetic material.
The synthetic bags are much stronger, last longer and wont come apart in damp/humid conditions as they are heat welded(not crimped!) instead of glued like the paper ones. We have not seen a single synthetic bag split since starting to use them around 8 years ago, but it did happen from time to time with the paper bags unfortunately.
The dimensions are slightly different, but the overall dirt capacity is the same for both bags. I am sure you will find the new bags perform very well after using them for a few months.
