The blue FB3 bag was superior in construction as the bag had no side joins.
The Universal Synthetic has crimped edges VERY close to the edges of the bag.
Also, it was harder to fit the collar. The bag is also shorter in length.
The quality of the bag has gone down.
Hi Dana, thanks for your review. The blue bags were a 2-ply paper design, the newer style bags are 3-ply synthetic material.
The synthetic bags are much stronger, last longer and wont come apart in damp/humid conditions as they are heat welded(not crimped!) instead of glued like the paper ones. We have not seen a single synthetic bag split since starting to use them around 8 years ago, but it did happen from time to time with the paper bags unfortunately.
The dimensions are slightly different, but the overall dirt capacity is the same for both bags. I am sure you will find the new bags perform very well after using them for a few months.
